Formerly known as the Taipei Children’s Recreation Center, the Taipei Children’s Amusement Park is a popular destination for families in Taipei. With more than 200,000 visitors each month.. It’s a great place to spend a day when it’s too hot outside.

The ticket will grant unlimited access to 13 rides. Or you could enter the park and pay per ride. I cover all the costs in a separate piece.

There are plenty of food booths and restaurants throughout the park, such as Burger King or Hualien Dumplings.

Get here by taking the Taipei MRT Red line to Jiantian, Shilin, or Zhishan stations. From there, you’ll take one of the following buses to the park:

  • Taipei Children’s Amusement Park 1
  • 255 shuttle bus
  • Red 30

And there’s plenty of affordable parking if you’re renting a car or motorbike.

Here’s something for y’all to do indoors.

The Little Rock, Taipei, is a rock climbing gym that offers free climbs to children under 4 years old. However, you’ll need to buy specific climbing shoes. This place is great for anyone who has kids who like climbing on everything and need a way to release their energy.

It’s a 15-minute walk from the Zhishan MRT Station on the Red Line.

There’s not much else to say about this place. Let’s move onto our next recommendation.

3. Taipei Zoo

The Taipei Zoo is home to more than 377 animal species, including giant pandas, koalas, and giraffes. The zoo is a popular tourist destination, and is best for families with children and animal lovers. It’s also home to plenty of kids’ areas such as a petting zoo.

The Taipei Zoo is the most ethical zoo in Taiwan, thanks to its membership in the World Association of Zoos & Aquariums (WAZA), Taiwan Aquarium & Zoological Park Association (TAZA) and more. This means the staff treats the animals well and the critters have plenty of space in their exhibits.

There isn’t too much food aside from a couple small food court areas and food carts. I’d bring your own drinks, unless you want to wait until reaching one of 2 convenience stores.

I recommend getting to Taipei Zoo as soon as they open. Considering your family will need to stop for frequent breaks, you may not make it through all the exhibits in time if you arrive too late in the day. Then you’ll need to consider the time it takes to get to the zoo or search for parking.

Speaking of. Drive here or take the Taipei MRT Brown Line to the Taipei Zoo terminal station. The zoo sits immediately outside the MRT station.

The station also sits by the Maokong Gondola, which will take you into Maokong Mountain, a great place to get tea or get an excellent view of Taipei City.

Prefer parks? Here’s a great pick.

4. Daan Park
